Glacier National Park is in the Northwest Corner of Montana near the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. These pictures are from our trip there in 1996, and we went again in August 1997.
Post-trip, 1997: We had a fantastic trip in Glacier.
We spent the first week in the back country, 7 days, 6 nights, going over the Rocky Mountains, and spending three nights above treeline. We started at Glenns Lake, and proceeded West over the Continental Divide to Bowman Lake, and came out in Polebridge, 7 miles from the Canadian border. There's not much in Polebridge: the North Fork hostel, some tepees, a mercantile, and, oh yes, the Northern Lights, a full bar and restaurant, open all season (that's July to September for you easterners). We camped at Lake Janet, Stoney Indian Pass, Boulder Pass, and Hole in the Wall, among others. The second part of the trip, we climbed Reynolds, Stanton and Piegan.
Check out the weather link below and see what the weather's like there now.
